BATHE ME ONCE AGAIN MAMA

Bathe me once again mama,
Like you did in the days of zama,
Like you would after you carried me in your shuka,
After I had eaten soil from the shamba.

Bathe me once again mama,
Like you would when I had played banya,
Like you would after an entire day of playing cha mama,
After I had fallen while jumping the kamba.

Bathe me once again mama,
Like you would when the doctor said I had malaria,
Like you would after I had been hit by the ndama,
After I had asked why you were holding your tama.

Bathe me once again mama,
Like you would with your words when you would sema,
Like you did after you saw me walking with that kijana,
After you had been told that he was responsible for that girl's mimba.

Bathe me once again mama,
Now that I too will become a mama,
Show me how to bathe my own when you become a nyanya,
Teach me how to make my nyumba.

Bathe me once again mama,
Teach me how to treat my bwana,
Just one more time before I hama,
Just one more time hata kama,
Bathe me once more mama.
